This week we learned how to work on a pechakucha. This is helping us to work on our flow. Being able to show and make everything fit together. Also making it so that the slides all connect with one another. You don't want to be going from one point and then going to another and then back to the original point you started with. You have to be able to get right to the point and tell what you are trying to get out there. If you keep going on and on then you are going to lose your audience. Time management is very big when it comes to anything. You have to make sure you can get everything done. It is fine to take breaks. But you have to stay on task and get to what you need to do. It is hard to catch back up if you consistently slack off and just keep pushing your work to the side. If you get it done before it is due or the time to turn it in is up then you will have all the time you need to go and make changes or do whatever it is that you wanna do.

This week we learned that a character arc can show you connections about a character. You can see how certain events lead to how the character is now in the book. You'll see the changes and the difference in the younger version of that certain character. Being able to see how specific events have changed this character will put it into a different perspective. And will also show you what they did or how they could have changed if they did or didn't do something. Being able to identify when, where, and how a character changed can be really big if you are wanting to understand the book. This week we also learned that being able to comprehend and understand how the character is being affected is big because then you can see what it is that is happening in that characters eyes. It helps if you are able to work on why they are the way they are. If you can make connections between characters and events and what role it had in a character's life it changes how you will be looking at it. In this week we looked more into shared leadership and the electorate. How it has to do with more of our life. Telling the truth is very important. You have to be able to know everything, if you are being given false information then you will be acting upon the false information. You have to be able to share and you knowledge with others. If you lie and don't tell all of the truth then how can you be trustworthy. How can you get out information when before you lied and wasn't telling everyone what was really happening. Another thing that I learned this week was that taking down notes can help you out a lot. Being able to comprehend what is going on and then to write down what will help you to learn. If you can write down good notes then you can go back to your notes and it will refresh your mind. But also you can go back and look through your notes to help you figure something or find out more about something that you are working on. It will help you to find more meaning to thing and you can interpret something else in a different way. Taking notes and being able to read something and then write down what you think is important is very important. This week I learned that the flow of a book is very important. Depending on the flow and if you are able to get into the flow so you can understand it can sort of play a movie in your head. This flow can pull you into the book and make it so you are not able to put the book down. It can keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know and find out more. You are going to enjoy the book that you have chosen more and be able to have some kind of connection with the book if you can find the flow and get into it. This week I also learned that you should get to know more and more people. You do not truly know how you are connected to someone until after something happens in a good or a bad way. For example in the book The Kite Runner amir thought that he was just watching his friend get beat up but he then later found out that, his friend was actually his brother. You don't know what connections you are going to have or make with the people that are around you. We all need to go out and talk with people. Meet up with them have conversations and just connect, see the connections you have with people. With us doing so it is going to make us all stronger and bring all of us together. We can all because stronger as one, as a whole. In this week I also learned that looking deeper into things can really open your eyes about things. If you just take one look at a certain thing then you may not really get to know what the true meaning is of this thing. But once you look into it you can open your thought about many knew things. During this week I learned about shared leadership and how it is important anywhere you are. If you dont have shared leadership then only one voice is being heard and you are not getting any new ideas. If you can share the power then everyone is able to have their opinion on things and they can share what they have to say which may be a better way of doing things. Even if you do not get it your way. You will know that you got your voice out there and that you did everything you could do. If only one person is in control then they get to determine what it is that they want you to know and what they don't want you to know. They can get rid of books or get rid of the "heroes" that way they can get rid of the hope and knowledge of the people. They can also determine what you believe in because they can't have someone or something above themselves, they have to hold the highest power. They could get rid of anyone that questioned their authority to show that they are not afraid and that they need to be feared. They can't have anyone standing up to them and giving the people hope and dreams of something new. Have shared leadership helps share the power between all the people. This week I have learned that if I am able to get into a book then I could finish it in a week. I read The Alchemist this week, it was a very interesting book and I enjoyed it very much. It was a different type of book for me to read but I liked reading it. You were able to get into the book. There were also some times in the story that you could relate to in a way. I had a big question that dealt with happiness and in most of the story the boy was looking for what would make him happy. I also learned that I am the one who has to teach myself thing. I learn from myself. Working hard and never giving up can help you to accomplish anything. As long as you keep pushing for your goals nothing can stop you. This week in class we watched our This I Believe videos. I think that my classmates did a very good job. I learned quite a bit about my classmates and what the believe in and a little bit about their background. I also saw that with all of my pieces of my video put together it turned out pretty good. At first when I had just finished it I wasn't very sure about it or very confident in my video. But after a couple of times watching it I started to be more confident in it and started feeling good about my video. I learned that everyone is different in so many ways. Most of my classmates all had something different that they all believed in. I also got my new book The Alchemist. I am not very far in it but so far it is very interesting. I am enjoying it so far. There is a lot of things that are happening and going on in Santiago's life. To me it sounds like so far his life has been very interesting and full of adventure. He has a lot going on and I am excited to find out more and what he plans to do with the rest of his life. This week I learned that i am not very good at speaking and i have learned that i am not familiar with how my voice sounds. We wrote our This I Believe essay. I wrote mine about family. I have started recording but am still working on it. This week I finished my book. It was a very good book i enjoyed it very much. I had never heard this story before until now. When I first heard that it was about a school shooting, i thought that there was or would have been more injuries or it they lost more students. But i learned that no one was actually killed other than one of the boys that was doing the school shooting and he had killed himself. What happened was terrible. I dont believe anyone should ever have to go to that extent where you try to kill people at your school or yourself. Some of the boys that were held hostage almost killed the other school shooter once they got free and put him in a comma. I learned this week that it takes a lot of confidence to do anything and be proud about your work. You need to believe in yourself and your work no matter what is going on. Have faith in your work and present your stuff confidently. You willgo through life much happier if you do this. This week we learned how to believe in yourself and to not give up on yourself. You should keep fighting for what you believe in. Don't let anyone change who you are and who you want to be. If you have goals you should go out and get them. We watched videos on Tony Hawk, Micheal Oataman, and Andy Schoenborn. All of the videos told us to not give up on what we believe in. Each of the videos had a hard challenge that each of the authors had to face. Each author had the choice to give up on there goal or to keep pushing and fighitng for what they want and they believe. They were each told that they could not do it and that they would not be able to. But each of the authors didnt listen and they fought for their dream and goals. I have almost completed my book Give a Boy a Gun. I have gotten to the school shooting. All of the quotes from the students are saying how they dont understand why they did what they did. It is still a very good book. I am enjoying this book. This week I learned that life is very valuable and that you need to respect life. You have to enjoy what you're given. You can go through your entire life and just look bad at everything but you won't bring joy or happiness to your life if you do that. You have to be grateful of what you have and look at the bright side of everything and be happy with what you are given. If you are always looking at what I'm going to be doing in the future then you aren't living you have to be in the present and live life as it is. Nobody is guaranteed so you need to be living life to the fullest everyday. Be grateful for everything. It is awesome to set goals and to do stuff that will get you those goals but you need to be working on the now and how at this moment you can reach those goals. You can't just say I want this and I want that. You have to go out and reach for those goals. This week I also realized that I really enjoy my book that I am reading. It has really brought me in. I am reading Give a Boy a Gun written by Todd Strasser. It is about a school shooting that took place in Middletown. As of right now all that I have read it is telling me about the two boys that were bullied that are the ones that were the school shooters. One of the guys Gary wasn't always in a bad mood where he hated everything and wanted to kill himself but then he met Brendan and that is when Gary changed. I really enjoy this book. |
